【摘要】:Thisguideisgeneralandisintendedasaplanningguide.Tosatisfactorilysampleaspecificsite,aninvestigatormustsometimesdesignnewsamplingequipmentormodifyexistingequipment.Becauseofthedynamicnatureofthetransportprocess,theextenttowhichcharacteristicssuchasmassconcentrationandparticle-sizedistributionareaccuratelyrepresentedinsamplesdependsuponthemethodofcollection.Sedimentdischargeishighlyvariablebothintimeandspacesonumeroussamplesproperlycollectedwithcorrectlydesignedequipmentarenecessarytoprovidedatafordischargecalculations.Generalpropertiesofbothtemporalandspatialvariationsarediscussed.1.1Thisguidecoverstheequipmentandbasicproceduresforsamplingtodeterminedischargeofsedimenttransportedbymovingliquids.Equipmentandprocedureswereoriginallydevelopedtosamplemineralsedimentstransportedbyriversbuttheyareapplicabletosamplingavarietyofsedimentstransportedinopenchannelsorclosedconduits.Proceduresdonotapplytosedimentstransportedbyflotation.1.2Thisguidedoesnotpertaindirectlytosamplingtodeterminenondischarge-weightedconcentrations,whichinspecialinstancesareofinterest.However,muchofthedescriptiveinformationonsamplerrequirementsandsedimenttransportphenomenaisapplicableinsamplingfortheseconcentrations,andandbrieflyspecifysuitableequipment.Additionalinformationonthissubjectwillbeaddedinthefuture.1.3Thecitedreferencesarenotcompiledasstandards;howevertheydocontaininformationthathelpsensurestandarddesignofequipmentandprocedures.1.4Informationgiveninthisguideonsamplingtodeterminebedloaddischargeissolelydescriptivebecausenospecificsamplingequipmentorproceduresarepresentlyacceptedasrepresentativeofthestate-of-the-art.Asthissituationchanges,detailswillbeaddedtothisguide.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection12.
